Quality standards and product safety

Compliance with quality and safety standards

Guaranteeing food quality and safety is the biggest issue for companies along the agri-food chain, from farmers to restaurateurs. Multiple certifications – like IFS, BRC and FSSC – ensure that food products meet the highest health standards.

As a specialist in fresh and frozen egg-based products, Cocotine is committed to quality, from our co-op farmers to our processing plants, so we can deliver egg products that satisfy the most stringent standards. Our brand is also concerned about minimising our environmental impact by optimising farming conditions and the various steps involved in our production processes.

Key certifications for actors on the agri-food chain

IFS Food certification

IFS certification ensures that the food quality and safety requirements of European distributors are met. It is essential for product placement in French, German and Italian supermarkets. Amongst other points, IFS certification guarantees:

  • Product traceability
  • The existence of a food quality and safety management system
  • Proper management of human and material resources
  • Protection against malicious acts

BRC Food Safety certification

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) is a trade association of retailers that defines the rules of use that companies must follow in order to be sold in British shops. The BRC’s guidelines cover food safety, food fraud and food defence against the risks of malice and sabotage.

BRC certification has become an international benchmark for food manufacturers. Recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), this global food safety standard combines surprise audits, scheduled audits and ongoing monitoring.

Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000)

FSSC 22000 is an internationally recognised certification that proves the effectiveness of a company’s food safety management system. This food safety certification is based on the existing standard ISO 22000 and is supplemented by technical standards such as ISO/TS 22002-1 for food manufacturing and ISO/TS 22002-4 for food packaging manufacturing. FSSC 22000 is also compatible with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

FSSC 22000 guarantees complete mastery of the dangers associated with food safety – meaning safe production processes – and is recognised by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

The Cocotine brand is proud to hold all these certifications, proof of our longstanding commitment to quality and safety. In particular, these certifications guarantee compliance with the principles of HACCP*.
